Sunday Riley UFO vs Skin Dewi Facial Emulsion

What works best to manage breakouts? ⠀
A balancing Face Oil or Face Fluid Emulsion?⠀

When @skindewi sent me their Balancing Lotion* last year I had also purchased at the same time @sundayriley UFO so I decided to put these two to test in treating and preventing breakouts under hot humid conditions (Yep not fun!) ⠀

Sunday Riley UFO- Ultra-Clarifying Facial Oil⠀

✅Key Ingredients: ⠀
Salicylic Acid 1.5%, Tea Tree Oil, Black Cumin, Licorice. Primarily Ingredients that work to treat clogged pores, breakouts and balance oily skins.⠀ .⠀
❓Experience. ⠀
I completely understand why this is a popular choice with so many people, most face oils can feel heavy, or sit on the skin, taking a long time to absorb and generally making oily skins feel uncomfortable. This oil, on the other hand, absorbs quickly and the drying effects of Salicylic Acid are counteracted by the essential fatty acids . A very pleasant to experience oil for someone who gets oily very quickly outdoors.
Now initially this worked well but eventually (2weeks into my skin routine) I felt it truly did not suit my skin nor the hot humid climate providing too much occlusivity to my skin. I feel this oil would work better in winter/colder climates.⠀
*Does include essential oils and synthetic dyes ⠀
Verdict 3/5 .⠀

Skin Dewi Temulawak Balancing Facial Emulsion⠀

✅Key Ingredients: ⠀
Tea Tree oIl, Lavender Oil, Salix Alba (Willow) Bark Extract, Salicylic Acid (less than 1% noting that SA is shown to be effective from 0.5%) Tamanu, Jojoba and Hazel seed oils. Primarily ingredients that work to treat clogged pores, prevent breakouts and balance oily breakout prone skins.⠀ .⠀
❓Experience: ⠀
This worked incredibly well and is perfectly suited for hot humid climates like South East Asia, where the brand originates from as well as Western Summers and vacations. I literally had “0” breakouts when using this light fluid. I also prefer that it is a light fluid rather than a rich cream since it allows me to layer my moisturising SPF generously.⠀ .⠀
*Does include essential oils⠀
Verdict 4.5/5⠀

Anyone prefer an oil serum to tackle blemishes? ⠀
