I literally woke up like this, no kidding I took this pic 10mins after getting out of bed.
.
This is my skin in all its glory plus some serious golden hour glow with pores, scars, hereditary dark circles, sunken eye orbital area, discolourations, melasma. scarring, redness, oiliness and a bit of congestion.
.
I am reposting this because I don’t know if you remember but after taking this pic all I could see was a bunch of flaws, this looked off, that looked swollen and why do I always frown. I had literally only been awake 5mins and a million thoughts were already running through my head. Yet exactly how many thoughts run through our heads? I did google this one up and apparently somewhere between 60-80,000 thoughts a day, making it 2500-3,300 thoughts per hour (depending on the what source you read). That is just mind-boggling! Now I’m wondering just how many of these thoughts are positive and how many are negative? What if you could tip the balance towards more positive thoughts, how different would our day be?
.
From what I can remember my negative self-talk hit its peak when I had acne in my 20s, it was also a time when Victoria Beckham and Cameron Diaz were always headlined news for their “bad skin” and there were no social media to have these real conversations around skin, which meant I was always wallowing in how and when this acne would go away. Thankfully there is so much more skin, body and diversity positivity around now which is so uplifting but I still try my best to keep my thoughts in check.
So my centering thought for today was “you are love” just saying those words makes me take a deep breath and allows my chest to expand and feel so loved and loving towards myself and others too. It makes for a great start to the day and well worth trying.
If there was one thought you would like to plant into your mind today what would it be?
