Coming soon: Hyperpigmentation series

How long has it been since I last did a series?⠀
⠀
When I first started Instagram a few years back my goal was to highlight a bunch of amazing ingredients you should know about. Back then some of the now popular ingredients were just beginning to emerge, Deciem hadn’t launched The Ordinary and I created #BWIngredients to align with my passion for skincare ingredients. I also did a bunch of ingredient weeks and series. For the next two weeks (I am feeling a bit nostalgic) with the launch of the Hyperpigmentation Guide this Thursday I thought it might be a good idea to revisit those weekly series and kick start a “Hyperpigmentation” one covering some essentials.⠀
⠀
How does that sound?⠀
⠀
By the way, before we begin the series let me just say, hyperpigmentation is usually not harmful and if you are ok with it that is absolutely awesome by all means skip this series altogether. Yet I would be lying if I said the constant occurring and fading of dark spots and discolorations weren’t one of my biggest skin concerns with me worrying more about the post-inflammatory hyperpigmentation from blemishes than the blemishes themselves (more on this later) and from all our conversations over the year I know I am not alone in this. This is about empowering you to help you understand your skin better so that you can take care of your skin I wish I had this platform and this kind of knowledge back in 2002 when I suffered severe burns after a professional In-Clinic Peel which would take 2 years to heal and spurned me to eventually enrol into Beauty School and Cosmetic Science just so that I could understand why my skin responded the way it did.⠀
⠀
First up, how does hyperpigmentation form? Posting soon….⠀
